Abstract
A novel non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose sensor based on aluminium/zinc layered hydroxide-ferulate (Al/ZLH-FA)-modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was fabricated as a carbon paste electrode. The composite was morphologically characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), while its electrochemical behaviour was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and square-wave voltammetry (SWV). Under optimized experimental conditions, the sensor exhibited a linear response to glucose concentrations ranging from 3 to 300 µmol L–1, with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.9984. The limit of detection (LOD) was calculated to be 0.05 µmol L–1. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been used to determine the morphology of Al/ZLH-FA and Al/ZLH-FA/MWCNT, respectively. Because of its remarkable selectivity and sensitivity, the Al/ZLH-FA/MWCNT composite electrode that was produced was useful for analytical applications.
