Words from

Editor-in-Chief

Professor ChM Dr. Phang Sook Wai
It is a distinct privilege to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief for the Malaysian Journal of Chemistry (MJChem), an open-access journal published by the Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM). I wish to express my deepest gratitude to my predecessor, Datin ChM Dr. Zuriati Zakaria, for her invaluable mentorship and for paving the way for this next chapter of scholarly excellence.

As we continue our mission to advance chemical science, we remain committed to publishing rigorous, high-quality, and transformative research across a wide spectrum of disciplines. Our journal serves as a vital platform for foundational fields, including analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and theoretical chemistry as well as specialized areas such as materials, nuclear, and natural products. We also strongly encourage empirical, conceptual, and interdisciplinary contributions in rapidly growing domains like green chemistry, nanotechnology, and sustainable innovation.

Since its acceptance for Scopus indexing in June 2018, MJChem has experienced remarkable growth in global visibility. The journal expanded from publishing two issues in 2018 to four in 2021. Now, in 2026, we are proud to publish six issues annually. This achievement highlights the dedication of our authors, reviewers, and editorial board, reflecting the growing importance of chemistry research in solving global challenges.

We are deeply dedicated to fostering an inclusive, transparent, and timely peer-review process. We invite researchers, practitioners, and thought leaders to share their innovative work with our global community. We curate top-tier research from leading symposia and scientific gatherings, submitting them to double blind peer-review process by expert chemists. These curated works are then published as thematic special issues that spotlight emerging scientific trends. I look forward to collaborating with our editorial board and engaging with your groundbreaking submissions.

We are profoundly grateful to the entire MJChem community-authors, reviewers, proof-readers, and the Editorial Board for your continued excellence. A special note of recognition goes to our Associate Editor, ChM Dr. Ngai Koh Sing, and past Editor-in-Chief, Datin ChM Dr. Zuriati Zakaria, whose sustained dedication and support make this publication possible.

As we look ahead, let us collaborate to elevate the journal's influence, increase citation rates, and cement MJChem as a premier publication both regionally and internationally. We are absolutely delighted to have you on board. Thank you for your continued support and readership.
