Abstract
Resveratrol is a stilbene derivative that is a natural polyphenolic compound found in grapes and wine. It was first isolated from Veratrum grandiflorum and found to have various pharmacological and biological properties. In the last decade, resveratrol attracted significant attention because of its anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, neuroprotective, and antioxidant properties. In this study, seven aminostilbene analogues were synthesized, characterized and evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against the human lung cancer (A549) cell line using an MTT cell proliferation assay. Among these, compound 4b exhibited good cytotoxicity towards A549 cells after 72 h of incubation, with an IC50 value of 20 µM. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in combination with High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS).
