Abstract

Nanotechnology is a recent advancement in the fields of science and technology. It has contributed significantly to numerous uses of metal nanoparticles in different sectors, mainly in research institutions, science, and industries. This review paper focuses on the green route method synthesis, properties, and potential biomedical applications of iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4-NPs) from Azadirachta indica (neem) leaf extracts. Iron oxide nanoparticles have piqued the interest of researchers due to their diverse characteristics and various application fields, particularly biomedical applications. Iron oxide nanoparticles have been produced using various methods, including chemical, physical, and biological procedures. These methods, however, are costly, time-consuming, and could be hazardous to individuals and the environment. Conversely, the green method is a promising method for synthesizing nanoparticles. The green synthesis of different types of nanoparticles using plant extracts has also received a lot of attention over the last decade. In addition, its biomedical applications, such as targeted drug administration, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), treatment of magnetic hyperthermia, and cell separation, are also discussed below.
